Mixing & export
Download the finished mix and individual tracks
Mix export creates a WAV of the arrangement with its processing. A separate ZIP export transfers individual channels to another music application.
Check the project first
Press Save and make sure the intended version is saved. Listen to the beginning, busiest section and ending; check muted tracks and the final level. If the original recording and its separated parts are both present, decide which should be audible.
Wait for cloud audio to load. A result in SteppeMind history is not the same as a clip added to the arrangement: export uses the project's material. Use Mix analysis to check levels and mono compatibility.
Choose bit depth in the master sidebar
Under Studio → Master bus → WAV export, choose the format before starting export. This does not require a separate export settings dialog.
| Format | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| 16-bit PCM | When you need a compatible integer WAV specifically at this bit depth |
| 24-bit PCM | For a finished mix with more precision |
| 32-bit float | For further mixing or processing, preserving the precision of an intermediate result |
Export bit depth does not automatically improve source recordings or restore audio that is already distorted. Master processing and limiter settings still apply to float output.
TPDF dithering adds very quiet noise during the final conversion to 16/24-bit PCM to reduce quantization distortion. It is generally applied at the final such conversion. The switch is unavailable for 32-bit float, which does not use this dithering.
Master bus → WAV export, below the plugins. Choose bit depth here; the ZIP button exports pre-mixer tracks.
Export the mix
- Set the format in the master sidebar.
- Open Studio's File tab and press Export mix.
- Wait for preparation to finish. The button displays an export indicator and prevents a second start during rendering.
- Save the WAV through the browser. If no dialog appears, check its downloads list and permissions.
Keep the tab open during preparation. A long project with instruments and effects can take time to render. If export fails, read the notification and retry after addressing the cause.
With Live mixing enabled, export uses the same type of processing, the project's final settings and saved automation points. It does not record every fader movement made while listening. The analyzer's Listen in mono button does not change WAV export.
Export individual tracks as ZIP
Under Master bus → WAV export, press Pre-mixer stems · ZIP. The archive contains separate 32-bit float WAV files with a common start and length, plus a file containing names and mix settings.
These are channels before mixer processing: channel effects, WAM and final master processing are excluded. Their simple sum may therefore differ from the finished mix. Check mute states: muted tracks are excluded from preparation of these channels. When transferring material to a mix engineer, also export the finished master as a listening reference.
Place all WAV files at the same start position when importing them into another application. The regular mix export's bit depth and dithering do not change this archive's float format. This ZIP also differs from downloading AI separation results: it exports tracks from your arrangement.
Check the downloaded result
Open the WAV in an ordinary audio player. Check the beginning, ending, effect tails and expected parts. If it contains silence, revisit the track states and source project. If downloading failed, check the export notification, free disk space and browser downloads.
MIDI contains notes and events rather than recorded instrument sounds; export it from the MIDI editor. A project file preserves Oscivara's editable state, but should not automatically be treated as a self-contained archive of all cloud audio.
